I am a country girl down to the bone and after living in the center of town for 18 years before moving back to the country, I rarely go to town. I'm perfectly content to stay home on weekends and plant shutdowns, but today I went to town. One of our planned stops was to go to Menards to use what my husband calls my "Playstation". It's the computer module they have for customers to use to plan buildings, decks, etc. We went to get a preliminary cost on the building that my studio will be in. So here is a picture of my favorite store.
I've also mentioned lately that I work in the slow moving automotive industry. While we were running around, we drove by the SIA plant in Lafayette. This is the assembly plant that we ship our seats to. If you take a look at the lot, you will see probably 10,000+ vehicles (Subaru and Toyota) waiting to be shipped and sold. And speaking of vehicles, I spotted this SWEET ride in the Walmart parking lot and since I had my camera on me, I had to get a picture. The owner came back as I was taking pictures but I'm not sure he spotted me stooped down in front of his car. I didn't say anything, just walked away smiling like I had just gotten away with something.

ReplyDeleteSounds like I'd enjoy a trip to Menards as well - I love playing around with that kind of thing. It reminds me, I may download the IKEA kitchen planner, now I know how big my extended kitchen will be. ;0)

ReplyDeleteNormally, we have a 2 week shutdown during the summer and about a week and a half at Christmas. The plant is closed so we get a couple of vacations a year. With the economy the way it is, to cut production, some automotive plants are shutting down periodically for a week or 2 at a time. My son-in-law is currently only working about 1 out of every 3 weeks. His employer builds Semi trailers and they are really suffering now. I'm just afraid that things will get a whole lot worse before it gets better.
